Online Classes

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, my in-person group yoga sessions have been paused for the time being. However, I have set up online classes via Zoom, and one of these is open to all!

This is to encourage us to sustain our yoga practice, while supporting us to remain grounded, and to nurture a friendly sense of community despite the isolation.

One weekly open-to-all class is currently available online on Wednesday evenings 6pm -7.15pm (a little earlier than our St Paul’s class by popular demand). This might change depending on demand and availability.

Booking online classes

  1. Send me an email, at, stating the date(s) of the class(es) you wish to attend.
Please do this as early as possible and no later than three hours before class or you might not be able to join.
  2. Pay via Paypal: this is my address:
You can pay for every class individually (£8/£6.50 for full time students and NHS staff). If you wish to pay for several classes in one go, please just let me know that you are doing so. I have adapted the pricing so that everyone gets the block price for our regular Wednesday evening class, instead of drop-in.
  3. Once you have booked in for the class
All you need to do now is to follow the Zoom link that I will email you – Zoom is the platform that I am using to host the live sessions. You can do this on a computer, tablet, or phone. It is super easy.
At the latest one hour before the start of the session (or ‘meeting’), I will send out this link along with a password which you will need to use to access the session. Only those who have registered and paid for the session will have access to the password. Please don’t share the passwords with anyone else.
  4. Joining the class
Please come online 5-10 minutes before the session, to settle in as you would for an ‘in person’ class and so there is time to sort out any technical issues. In fact, it may be worth checking that the link I send you works as soon as I send it to you to make sure you can access the class (you won’t be permitted to actually join the meeting until I am online ready to host, though). This way you will have plenty of time to sort out any issues, especially in these early days when everything is new.

Zoom can be accessed from a range of devices, even from your phone, but I would recommend choosing a big screen if you want a better view. It is best to try to place your device approximately 2-3 metres away from you and arrange your mat so that I can see as much of you as possible of you – including feet (of course this may not be possible if space doesn’t allow it). As well as your yoga mat, you might want a cushion, blanket and some blocks (or books). And the quietest and cosiest space that you can find!

[If you want to play around with getting your set up right before class, you’ll just need to create a Zoom account, then go into Meetings, then Personal Meeting Room, then Start Meeting to open a meeting that only you can see.]

I very much appreciate your supporting me to keep teaching you. I hope that many of you will engage with this new way of attending yoga sessions and will help me to continue to provide support to our community.
I also expect that there will be fun along the way!

How to access your booked class live
Access your booked class on Zoom by clicking Join a Meeting and inserting the Meeting ID in Zoom or just follow the meeting’s access link.

When asked, enter the unique 6-digit password for that week’s class (sent to all registrants by email at least 1 hour before the class).

When relevant, select ‘Open’ and then ‘Join with Computer Audio’ – that should bring you into the class.

Guidelines for inside the class
I’ll open up the virtual classroom up to 15 minutes before the scheduled time of the class. Feel free to come in early to get settled or chat with others. There will also be a chance for this after class.
If you arrive even earlier, that’s OK, but you’ll have to wait until I open the space.

When you enter the class:

Your video should automatically come on. If not, click Start Video on the top right corner of your screen.

Your audio will be muted. Feel free to unmute yourself (with another button in the top right-hand corner of your screen).

Music doesn’t travel very well and makes it difficult for students to hear me, if I play it from my end. However you can of course listen to some tunes at home – make sure you are muted – and I am also slowly populating my Spotify account with yoga lists to go with our classes. Just check me out on Spotify to access those.

You might want to ‘pin’ the video of me (as the teacher) to the large screen once we start our yoga practice, so it doesn’t switch when someone else talks. This can also be done by clicking on the top right-hand side of my video, then select ‘pin video’.

You can cancel your booking up to 3 hours before the start of the class. I’ll be sending the unique password for that week’s class out then, so, once you’ve received that, you’ll be charged for the session.

Please get in touch with any problems/feedback
I am still getting used to this new teaching format and to the tech, so please bear with me and do send me some feedback so that I can improve my offerings! Many thanks.

I look forward to seeing you on the screen! In the meantime, stay well, look after each other, try to use this time to reflect, relax, read, laugh or whatever feeds you.

Thanks to Barry Blitt for his playful yoga art!
